Foreign Ministers from 27 nations have been gathering in the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi for the 43rd ministerial meeting of the Association of South East Asian Nations, or ASEAN.
Member nations are expected to discuss acceleration towards an ASEAN charter, closer ties between partners and enhancing cooperation in economic recovery.
Sustainable development and climate change will also be on the agenda during the five day event. The meetings will culminate in the ASEAN Regional Forum on Friday.
The Asean regional forum is Asia-Pacific's largest security dialogue and US Secretary of State and Foreign Ministers from Japan, China, Europe and Russia are expected to attend.
