A brewing tropical storm is threatening BP's efforts to permanently plug the devastating oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico. BP says if the weather worsens, workers will be forced to retreat to safety.
But, disaster response chief, says the temporary cap on the leaking well will hold-up IF workers need to return to shore. Crews are working round the clock to plug the leak before the storm hits the Louisiana or Texas coastlines.
Currently, the weather system is in the Caribbean, close to the Bahamas. Some oil-skimming vessels have already come BACK ashore due to choppy waters. Other ships are still collecting seismic and acoustic data.
