Brazil's Foreign Minister Celso Amorim has met with the Palestinian leadership in the West Bank city of Ramallah. He is due to meet Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Tuesday.
The meetings are an attempt to accelerate direct peace talks between the Palestinians and Israelis. The United States has been brokering indirect peace talks in the region, which are now halfway through their intended four-month duration. Amorim is urging both parties to produce concrete results.
Celso Amorim said, "The problem is not so much what you...if you're having direct talks or proximity talks. The problem is really what you are discussing in these talks and what are the aims of these talks. I think the important thing is to have results. And I think if there is good will you can have results in different ways."
