US President Barack Obama has sought to minimize damage caused by the leaked war documents. While he says he is concerned about the disclosures, they reveal little that was not already known.
Speaking to reporters following a meeting with congressional leaders, Obama said the leaks could potentially jeopardize individuals or operations. But he added that the report highlighted the many challenges faced in Afghanistan, which led him to conduct his review into the war last year.
The release is expected to fuel uncertainty in the US Congress, with Obama sending some 30,000 more soldiers into the battlefield, to break the Taliban insurgency.
