The plane that crashed near Islambad is an Airbus A321. It belongs to Airblue, a private airline based in Karachi, Pakistan.
Airblue is the country's second largest airline with over 30 percent share of the domestic market. It operates scheduled flights, with 30 daily services, linking four domestic destinations and international services to Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, Muscat in Oman and Manchester in England.
The airline was established in 2003 and started operations in 2004. Airblue currently operates a mixture of Airbus A321, A320 and A319s.
The A319 is a shortened version of the A320. With virtually the same fuel capacity as the A320, it has a range of 69-hundred kilometers. A319s are among the most popular variants of the A320 family.
