Kyodo News reports that a Japanese tanker blasted near the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, injuring one person. An official says pirates may have attacked the crude oil tanker.

The possible attack took place at noon time Wednesday when the ship was sailing in Oman waters in the western part of the strait, carrying crude oil to Japan's Chiba port. There has been no report of oil leakage.
