Russian special forces foiled an attempted hijack on Thursday, detaining a man who had seized control of a domestic passenger flight. An airport spokesman says it's the fastest operation to retake an aircraft in Russian civil aviation history.
The plane was on its way to Moscow from the North Caucasus town of Mineralnye Vody when it was hijacked. It's unclear how many passengers were on board or how the man managed to gain control of the aircraft. The plane was diverted to a special landing site, and all the passengers freed, after special forces fooled the hijacker by disguising themselves as doctors and boarding the plane.
