China's State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters said Friday that the flood control work will mainly focus on the regions along the Yangtze River, Hangjiang River and the Songhua River.
The floods this year have affect a total of 137 million people in 28 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, resulting in direct economic losses of 193.5 billion yuan.
A total of 1.07 million homes had collapsed, 10 million people had been evacuated and 9.17 million hectares of crops were affected by floods nationwide.
So far, the fatal floods have left 991 people dead and 558 missing this year.
