The Prime Minister of the deposed Hamas government in Gaza, Ismail Hanyea, says there is a Palestinian consensus on rebuffing the resumption of direct talks with Israel.
Hanyea said on Saturday that the choice of resuming direct talks with Israel is absurd, as Palestinian requirements for doing so have not been achieved. The United States has been pressuring Palestinian authorities to accept direct peace talks with Israel.
A leader of the opposition movement against Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Haneya says resuming talks with Israel would "grant cover to continue committing crimes against the Palestinian people."
