The National Meteorological Centre says the new round of rainfall across northeast China which began Tuesday night, will peter out Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Center says the high temperatures affecting southern China regions will be eased by cooler air in the next few days. Extreme weather in northeast China has left 100 people dead or missing.
Officials at Jilin's provincial flood-control and drought-relief headquarters says major reservoirs in the region have discharged water for the new downpours. Maximum temperatures will climb to 35 to 38 degrees Celsius in most areas near the Yangtze River. And northern China will be followed by cooler weather moving southward.
