Flooding caused by heavy rainfall has killed several people in Germany and Poland. Meteorologists are warning that the rains are not expected to stop until late Sunday.
German Authorities say three bodies were found on Saturday in the basement of a waterlogged building in the town of Neukirchen. The city of Chemnitz was also hit by the flooding, with the lower floors of many buildings submerged. Just across the border, in Poland, the town of Bogatynia was swamped with water after the Miedzianka River overflowed its banks.
The floods struck late on Friday, and worsened the next day, inundating three-quarters of the area. Emergency workers from Germany were also mobilized to assist the relief efforts of their Polish counterparts.
