Newly-elected Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos is seeking to repair relations with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who cut off ties in a dispute with the country's former leader.
Santos says he is optimistic a meeting with Chavez on Tuesday will produce positive and lasting results as he arrived in Santa Marta on Colombia's Caribbean coast.
Chavez said he comes to the meeting with "the will, heart and love to begin patiently to reconstruct that which has crumbled."
Chavez severed diplomatic relations with Colombia on July 22nd after the government of Santos' predecessor accused Venezuela of harboring Colombian rebels inside its border.
