As of 4pm Sunday, the death toll from the devastating mudslide in Zhouqu had hit 1,248 with 496 others still missing. 66 survivors were being treated in hospital, and a total of 1,243 people had been rescued.

Power supply has resumed in over 8-thousand homes, or 76 percent of all affected in the blackout. But telecommunication service can not be restored until next Tuesday, though repair work has concluded. As main roads have been unblocked, relief materials can now be delivered to the disaster zone swiftly. Meanwhile, temporary water supply points have been set up across the county.

And wells have been dug to supply more water. The Zhouqu local government is cooperating with authorities from the neighboring city of Tianshui to search for more water resources.
