A pilot with the Argentinian Air Brigade survived a near disaster when his plane fell from the sky during a display in Santa Fe.

The accident happened at the El Trebol aviation club, where Dino Moline was performing aerobatics. His aircraft plunged towards the ground when a wing suddenly broke off the plane.

The 3,000 spectators who had been enjoying the show thought it was part of the display. But Moline managed to activate the parachute system which is fitted to protect the whole aircraft.

The plane fell about 500 meters away from the spectators and caught fire. Fire crews rushed to the scene to find the pilot had got out of the cockpit unaided and unharmed.
