Sichuan Meteorological Administration says heavy rains are expected to hit the region at least three times before the end of this month.

The continuing heavy rains have struck the upper reaches of Yangtze River, increasing water levels in neighboring streams. Local authorities have sent rescue teams to work around the clock in case of any rain-triggered disasters. Four emergency service teams have been dispatched to forecast weather in Yingxiu, Dujiangyan, Hanwang and Qingchuan.

In flood-hit Mianzhu city, water supplies, electricity and communication services have been restored. The only road linking the city to the outside has been submerged but reconstruction is underway. In mudslide-stricken Wenchuan County, local government is providing food and daily necessities to strengthen relief efforts.
