Disease prevention work has started in areas of northwest China's Gansu Province that were hit by devastating floods on August 12th. Health workers are now scrambling to ensure high levels of sanitation in Chengxian County.

Medical treatments, epidemic prevention efforts, and water tests have begun under the guidance of local officials. Disinfectants have been sprayed to protect both victims and rescue workers from potential outbreaks.

The local government, has also increased its posting of public health information, to ensure that people take precautions against epidemics. Meanwhile, health workers are also providing psychological consultations for local residents.
