Background on plane crash: Embraer E-190 jet

Its an E-190 regional passenger plane, built by Brazilian aerospace conglomerate Embraer.

Embraer is the third-largest commercial aircraft manufacturer in the world. The series entered production in 2002, and is highly regarded, by airlines for its low fuel use and ease of maintenance. The E-190 can carry a maximum of 108 passengers.
