The 6th Beijing-Tokyo Forum jointly organized by the China Daily newspaper and Genron NPO, a non-profit Japanese think tank, is underway in Tokyo. This year's forum focuses on the future of Asia and Sino-Japanese relations.
China's Ambassador to Japan Cheng Yonghua and Japan's chief Cabinet Secretary gave welcoming speeches on behalf of the two governments. Director of China's State Council Information Office Wang Chen gave a keynote speech.
More than 800 representatives from both sides will discuss politics, economics, media, security and regional issues in two comprehensive meetings and five panel forums. The Beijing-Tokyo Forum has been held alternately in China and Japan every year since August 2005. It is one of the most significant platforms for non-governmental communication between the two countries.
