Premier Wen meets EU foreign policy chief

Premier Wen Jiabao has held talks with European Union's foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, in Beijing.

Wen Jiabao pointed out that both sides need to cooperate more to tackle the global financial crisis. The premier said the Lisbon Treaty was a watershed moment for the integration of the European Union. He expressed a hope to exchange more ideas with the EU's new leaders during the upcoming 13th China-EU leader meeting.

Catherine Ashton said that the EU appreciates China's support for EU's integration and economic recovery. She called for enhanced dialogue and cooperation between EU and China, the world's largest developing country. She also stressed that in face of the current global challenges, the EU-China relationship has become more important than ever.
