Five soldiers have been killed and 40 others injured in a suicide car bomb attack at an army base in Russia's violence-plagued, republic of Dagestan.
The attacker, rammed his car through a gate at the base Sunday, and drove straight at an area where soldiers live. The soldiers opened fire on him before he reached the center of the base.
The explosion happened, after the driver smashed into a military truck. After the blast, a car, taking investigators to the scene hit a roadside bomb, but no injuries were reported from that explosion.
Dagestan's President has also visited the base. The wounded soldiers are recovering in hospital.
