Julia Gillard will remain as Australia's prime minister after her Labor party won the support of two independent members of parliament.
The support of Rob Oakeshott and Tony Windsor gave Gillard the 76-seat majority she needed in the House of Representatives to stay in power.
Fellow independent MP Bob Katter earlier voiced support for the conservative coalition.
The August 21st federal elections failed to deliver any party a majority for the first time since 1940. Casting the deciding vote on Tuesday, Oakeshott voiced confidence in Gillard.
