The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency warns that he cannot confirm all of Iran's nuclear activities are peaceful, because the country is not fully cooperating with his inspectors. But the chief Iranian delegate to the IAEA is rejecting the allegations.

The IAEA started its week-long, 35-nation, Board of Governors meeting in Vienna on Monday.

Director-General Yukiya Amano chided Iran for barring a number of inspectors, and for stonewalling the Agency's attempts to probe claims that the country is interested in developing atomic weapons.

Yukiya Amano, IAEA Director-General, said, "A team of inspectors are working, and we are running smoothly with this team, but if some of the inspectors are objected for designation for a period of time, we get less effective, until the time we reestablish, rebuild the experience in Iran, by new inspectors."

Iran banned two IAEA inspectors from visiting its nuclear facilities in June, saying they had previously filed false information on the nation's nuclear program. Its chief delegate to the Agency, Ali Ashgar Soltanieh, is vehemently rejecting charges of selective bans and inspector intimidation.

Ali Ashgar Soltanieh, Iranian Chief Delegate to IAEA, said, "Is it not ridiculous that normally there are 10, 12 inspectors, in the core of the inspectors that usually inspect Iran? At the same time, we have accepted over 150 inspectors that are permitted to come to Iran at any time."

Iran insists that its atomic activities are meant only to generate energy. Its chief delegate continues to reiterate that all past and present IAEA reports show no proof that any of the country's nuclear installations have a military orientation.
