Armenia National Pavilion Day celebrated at Expo

Tuesday marks the National Pavilion Day of Armenia at the Shanghai World Expo. The country of Armenia is a landlocked mountainous country situated where Western Asia meets Eastern Europe. The nation is not only rich in cultural tradition, but also boasts a wealth of natural resources and delicious Armenian cuisine.

Armenia Pavilion embraces the theme of "City of the World." Located within Zone C of the Expo site, the pavilion invites spectators to construct a "City of the World."

One of the highlights of Armenia Pavilion is its Apricot Garden. Visitors can embrace the blossoming apricot trees, taste the unique apricots of Armenia and enjoy the magical sound of the Armenian Duduk flute, which is made of wood from the apricot trees.

Armenia,in the southern Caucasus, boasts a geographical area of nearly 30-thousand square kilometers, with a total population of around 3.5-million.

The country of Armenia is rich in its fine cultural traditions, particularly in the areas of architecture, painting, and sculpture. It boasts a vast assortment of century-old churches, many of which are on the list of must-visit destinations for tourists from around the world.

Armenia is known for its vintage brandy that has gained an international reputation for its pure taste and color. Records show that Armenia started to plant grapes around the 15th century B.C. First-class ingredients and perfectly suited weather conditions combine to make Armenian brandy pure to the taste. It is said that Joseph Stalin treated Winston Churchill to Armenian brandies at the 1945 Yalta Conference, and Churchill was deeply impressed by the taste of the wine.
