"Apple Village" on the West Bank

Settlement building in the West Bank is a major stumbling block to the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

The "Apple Village" is a Jewish settlement in the West Bank, home to more than 800 people.

Like many other settlements, it was built on top of a hill more than three decades ago.

Many residents living here believe the West Bank belongs to Israel.

A Jewish resident of "Apple Village said, " This is our hometown. We will not leave here, ever. We will continue to build houses and enhance communities in the West Bank region."

This community is located southeast of the Old City of Jerusalem. It boasts a population of more than 400, with Arab people the majority.

Recent years have seen a rise in the number of Jewish people in the community. In June, authorities of the Jerusalem city decided to tear down a dozen houses which belonged to Arabs, triggering a massive conflict.

East Jerusalem resident said, "They have a plan, to occupy Jerusalem, to...."

Now, with the 10-month freeze on Israeli settlement building in the West Bank expiring Sunday, residents there face an uncertain future.
