French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner has visited the quake-damaged general hospital in the Haitian capital, Port au Prince.Kouchner paid tribute to the medical staff, saying they have overcome deplorable conditions. Haiti's devastating earthquake in January killed an estimated 300-thousand people. Earlier this week, Kouchner and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton signed an agreement to provide a total of 50 million US dollars towards rebuilding the hospital. Kouchner also says he hopes the country's November elections will be a success.

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said, "You faced the cruelty of the catastrophe with a lot of tenacity and lots of courage. Even though improvised, the conditions are simply exceptional with regards to the destruction of the hospital's equipment and structure. It was simply deplorable, but you overcame all of this."
