Visiting Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has just left northeast China for Beijing to continue his official tour. He arrived in Dalian, the first stop of his three-day trip, on Sunday morning.

Medvedev first visited a memorial to the Soviet Union's war dead, and met with veteran Chinese and Russian soldiers who participated in China's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. He said the Russian and Chinese people forged profound friendships in their joint fight for freedom. The Russian President also thanked the veterans for their contributions to peace.

This is Medvedev's second state visit to China since assuming the Presidency in May, 2008. During his stay in Beijing, Medvedev will hold talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao and other leaders. He will also travel to east China's Shanghai on Monday.
