Hurricane Matthew has weakened to a tropical depression in coastal areas of Central America, but still wreaks havoc in some countries.

Thousands of people have been evacuated from high risk areas to makeshift shelters. Honduras has declared a State of Preventive Alert throughout the country.

Its armed forces are ready for emergency operations, together with 3-thousand aid workers. Meanwhile, Guatemala urges people to stay off the roads, since floods have swamped several towns in the nation's east and north.

About 300 deaths have been reported, along with one billion US dollars in damage.

The US National Hurricane Center, says Matthew could unleash 6 to 10 inches of rain, with even a possibility of more, in some areas of Guatemala and Mexico.
