China Pavilion Day celebrated at Shanghai World Expo

The Shanghai World Expo celebrated China's National Pavilion Day on October 1st -- which coincides with China's National Day. And to mark the day, the Expo center held a series of activities. Yao Hong takes a look.

More than 700 dignitaries from home and abroad, including China's top legislator Wu Bangguo, attended the flag-raising ceremony at the beginning of the Pavilion Day.

Wu Bangguo, Chairman of NPC Standing Committee, said, "Though the 2010 Shanghai Expo will conclude in a month's time, the spirit of progress, innovation, harmony and common prosperity advocated by the Expo will endure for a long time. Ours is a time when people around the world are calling for peace, development and cooperation"

Special shows and activities have also been prepared for the visitors.

Different forms of art, music, dance and opera were performed.

Different types of seals are also on display. The special seal of Pavilion day contains the image of the national flag and national pavilion.

To have a chance of visiting the China Pavilion on this special day, many visitors came to the Expo early in the morning.
