Indonesia's Mount Merapi has erupted for the second time in a week. Fortunately there have been no reports of any new casualties. But the death toll from the initial eruption and tsunami now stands at 441.

It is unclear whether the new activity of the volcano is a sign of another major blast to come. More than 40-thousand people fled or have been evacuated from Merapi's slopes. The eruption is not the only natural disaster to hit the nation.

A destructive tsunami was triggered by an earthquake that struck West Sumatra, killed at least 408 people. Hundreds are still missing and are feared to have drowned. Despite both occurrences happening within 24 hours of each other, scientists say the earthquake and volcanic eruption are not linked.
