Death toll rises as Indonesia's volcano re-erupts

The death toll has climbed to 191 as Indonesia's volcano in Central Java re-erupted Wednesday.

Mount Merapi, standing about 3,000 meters high, has continued to bombard the country, spewing hot ash more than a kilometer into the air. The fall out has already spread around an area of about 50 km square kilometers.

According to the National Disaster and Mitigation Management Agency, nearly half a million people have been evacuated, with about 600 others suffering from serious injuries. The agency has now extended the risk zone to 20 kilometers from the volcano. Merapi first began erupting on October 26.
