Premier Wen arrives in Tajikistan

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has arrived in Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe on an official visit. He will also attend the ninth premiers' meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Tajik Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov welcomed Wen upon his arrival. Other senior Tajik officials and China's ambassador to the country, Fan Xianrong, also attended the welcoming ceremony. During his visit, Premier Wen is expected to exchange ideas with his Tajik counterpart on bilateral cooperation, as well as international and regional affairs. Also on Wednesday, Premier Wen held talks with his Kazakh counterpart Karim Masimov.

The two leaders agreed to further promote bilateral ties and contribute to regional peace and development. Wen noted China will continue to encourage its enterprises to invest in the economic development of Kazakhstan.

Earlier in Russia, Premier Wen held talks with President Dimtry Medvedev in Moscow. The two sides agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations.
