China is urging all parties concerned to create favorable conditions to restart stalled Six-Party Talks as soon as possible.

Foreign Ministry spokesman, Hong Lei says China opposes any actions harmful to peace and stability on the Korean peninsula. He also adds that the country has continuously upheld that all relative parties should resolve conflicts through dialogue and negotiations in a peaceful way.

Hong Lei, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman, said, "China keeps close contact with concerned parties. During the current situation, we hope concerned nations can do more for the stability of the Korean peninsula and work together to return the issue back to the path of negotiation. We would also like to see things handled properly concerning the related parties within the framework of the Six-Party Talks."

Hong Lei says China is paying close attention to Tuesday's exchange of fire, and is urging the DPRK and ROK to engage in talks in order to avoid similar incidents. He is also expressing China's willingness to strive for that goal with all relative parties.

While the altercation took place, the US special envoy to the DPRK, Stephen Bosworth was on an Asian tour to consult on DPRK issues with South Korea, Japan and China.

Xie Jingmeng, Reporter, said, "It has been two days since the exchange of artillery fire between South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. World Powers are expressing concern and alarm at the situation on the Korean Peninsula. They are calling for calm from both sides and urge for regional peace and stability."
