Haiti's presidential candidate, Michel Martelly has asked for a new election, next month, where all the presidential candidates can take part.

Martelly, who is widely popular in the country, failed to make the the second round of the first poll, by around 7-thousand votes. Martelly and front-runner Mirlande Manigat have both rejected a plan, to have the vote, tally sheets, rechecked by a new commission, amid allegations of irregularities and fraud.

Last week, violent protests, broke out after the Provisional Electoral Council, announced that former first lady Mirlande Manigat, and Jude Celestin, a protege of outgoing President Rene Preval, had won enough votes, in the November 28 election to advance to a run-off election on January 16th. Martelly says, the only solution is a re-run of the election itself on that day.
