Bakers from Mexico City joined efforts to create the world's largest sweet bread, to mark the end of the holiday season.

The rosca is a pastry traditionally eaten in Mexico and other Latin America countries to celebrate the Epiphany, the visit of the three wise men to the baby Jesus. Thousands gathered, some since the early morning at Zocalo square in the centre of Mexico City to share in the eating of the traditional bread. The celebration marks the official closing of the Christmas season.

The 720-meter long pastry, weighing more than nine-thousand kilos, stretched around the Zocalo square. More than 21-hundred people from 40 different bakeries in Mexico City worked for seven hours to prepare the giant loaf.
