Representatives from Costa Rica and Nicaragua, are holding talks in the Mexican city of Cuer-na-vaca in an effort to solve a borderland dispute.

Mexico and Guatemala's foreign ministers, are coordinating the talks, which are being held behind closed doors. Last week, Nicaragua and Costa Rica presented their cases before the International Court of Justice.

Costa Rica has accused Nicaragua, of deploying troops inside its territory, last year, during a dredging operation, on a canal. Nicaragua denies any incursion saying instead the border is unclear in a swampy area where shifting sandbanks make it hard to demarcate land.
