President Hu Jintao also visited an exhibition in suburban Chicago showcasing achievements of Chinese companies in the US midwest. At least 40 businesses from China now have operations in the area, and that number is growing.

President Hu earlier toured a high school in downtown Chicago. Walter Payton College Prep is home to the only Confucius Institute in the US. The specialized programs it offers primarily focus on the Chinese language and cultural education efforts.

Hu Jintao also answered a question from a student about the similarities and differences between the two countries.
