French Foreign Minister, Alain Juppe, has confirmed that negotiations for Laurent Gbagbo's departure have failed. He added, that the democratically elected, president Alassane Ouattara, has decided to use military force to oust him. He stressed, that no UN or French forces are taking part in ANY action against Gbagbo.

He said, "The negotiations between Larent Gbagbo's entourage and Cote D'ivoire authorities that lasted for hours have failed, because of Laurent Gbagbo's intransigence. So they have been interrupted and President Ouattara has decided to ask his military forces, the Republican forces, to resume the offensive against the presidential compound. That is what is going on right now, fighting is taking place in Abidjan.
