Chinese president meets French parliament speaker

Chinese President Hu Jintao has met with the speaker of the French National Assembly, Bernard Accoyer.

During the meeting, President Hu Jintao said China and France, as permanent members of the UN Security council and G20, share broad common interests in a fast changing world. President Hu Jintao pledged to enhance bilateral, regional and multinational cooperation with France to cope with global challenges and promote their comprehensive strategic partnership.

Hu Jintao said the Chinese government supports strengthening exchanges between the two legislatures. Accoyer, who is on his first visit to China, suggested extended cooperation in nuclear energy, aviation, machinery and electronics production, culture, education and healthcare.
