Chilean base-jumper Julio Munoz has soared off a massive cliff in the Andes mountains on his motorbike, free-falling some 3000 feet before opening his parachute.

A helicopter flew equipment -- including a ramp, Munoz's motorbike, and camera crews -- into the dramatic, remote setting deep in the Chilean Andes. A crew perched the ramp over a towering cliff some 3300-feet tall, which Munoz hit at full speed, pushing his bike away from him and going into a freefall before opening his chute. The bike crashed against the cliff and smashed to pieces. Munoz, an experienced base-jumper, spent three years planning the stunt. He wore several cameras on different parts of his body to film the jump. Munoz said he hopes the stunt will not only give Chile exposure, but will open up oportunities for he and his team to do more jumps like it in other places.

Julio Munoz, Chilean Base-Jumper, said, "The idea is to discover Chile, have more contact with nature and to be able to open up our sails a bit and get out of South America. We think discovering South America through jumps is a good way to show our part of the world."
