Libyan Deputy Prime Minister, says the Russian offer to mediate a deal for Muammar Gaddafi to leave the country reflects growing international frustration with the Libyan crisis and a desire by the Kremlin for influence in the rapidly changing Arab landscape.

Libyan Deputy Prime Minister Khaled Kaim said, "Since Russia is one of the traditional friends to Libya for more than 40 years now, we don't think that Russia will sway its position to be siding with NATO, and we think Russia can play a major role through the African Union initiative, since the Libyan position is not to sideline the initiative adopted by the African Union.
