Memorials held for tornado victims in US

A week after a tornado devastated the US town of Joplin, Missouri, residents have paused to remember those who died and survivors who are still in need.

Worshippers flocked to Forest Park Baptist Church on Sunday morning. A capacity crowd of around 14-hundred people prayed for the victims of the tragedy in which more than 130 people were killed and hundreds more injured.

The church has set up a center for local people to have several of their needs met in one place - from spiritual counseling to the removal of debris. Later on Sunday, crowds across Joplin held a moment of silence in remembrance of the tornado victims. Afterwards, the crowd listened to a song called "Sing Again" composed especially for the city.
