Spokesperson of the international court has briefed the media on the latest condition of war crimes suspect Ratko Mladic. He is receiving equal treatment with other accused detainees as well as high standard medical treatments. The court also says he is expected to appear in court within several days, though he may give up pleading and ask for a delay in response.

Europe's most wanted war crimes suspect was waking up in an isolation cell on Wednesday.

And facing Ratko Mladic is his indictment handed by the International court's war crimes tribunal. The tribunal's spokeswoman briefed the media on Mladic's latest conditions.

Nerma Jelacic, ICTY Spokesperson, said, "He has been introduced to the rules governing the life in the ICTY detention unit as well as the work of the tribunal and he has undergone a thorough medical examination. He will remain in the detention unit until it is time for his initial appearance here in the court. It will certainly happen as soon as practicably possible so within the next couple of days."

When he appears in court, Mladic will be asked to formally confirm his identity and enter a plea to the genecide charges against him.

The court has given him a list of defence lawyers who could help him through the initial proceedings. But many believe he may decline to plead at his first appearance, instead opting to delay a formal response by up to a month.

Mladic is also to be examined by a doctor and receive any treatment he may need.

Herma Jelacic, ICTY Spokesperson, said, "We are confident that he has access to the best possible medical care both in the detention unit where we have our own doctor and within the penitentiary hospital in a wider Dutch system as well as in the civilian hospitals in the Netherlands."

And, despite charges over massacre of thousands of Muslims, Mladic is treated in accordance with the highest international srandards.

" The detention is functioning in accordance with the highest international standards, in accordance with the European Convention of the Human Rights. The cells are exactly the same for each one of the accused." Herma Jelacic said.

Mladic was extradited from Belgrade on a Serbian government executive jet Tuesday evening. He was captured last Thursday in a Serbian village after 16 years on the run.
