Vice President Xi Jinping attended a ceremony in Italy to celebrate the country's 150th anniversary of unification. Xi is on an official visit as the guest of Italian President Giorgio Napolitano.

Dozens of other world leaders also took part in Thursday's celebrations, which included a massive military parade that started in front of Rome's Coliseum. June 2nd is the anniversary of the constitutional referendum that created the modern Italian Republic in 1946. But, the actual date of Italian unification is March 17th, 1861 when the Kingdom of Italy was formed.
