A dense sandstorm has hit Baghdad, clogging people's throats, blocking their vision and sending many Iraqis, particularly asthma sufferers, to the hospital.

The emergency ward of the training hospital in the medical complex, has received up to 30 cases suffocation and asthma sufferers. Official say, they expect the number to increase up to 150 in the coming hours. Iraq has suffered sandstorms for a long time now, but several years of drought really aggravated the situation this year.

Adding to that, the stiffled flow of water from the Tigris and Euphrates rivers as a result of upstream dams choking their flow. Water shortages have made the land dry and even more dusty.
