Chinese DM to deliver a keynote address on China's "International Security and Co-op"

The Asian Security Summit is now underway in Singapore. Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guang-lie is attending, the highest ranking Chinese official, in the meeting's ten year history.

The annual meeting known as the Shangri-La Dialogue has brought together defense ministers and senior military officers from 28 Asia-Pacific countries.

Liang is scheduled to deliver a keynote address on Sunday morning on China's "International Security and Cooperation." He is also expected to speak on national defense policies, proposals to enhance regional security cooperation and China's commitment to peaceful development.

He will also hold briefings on China's policies on disaster relief and anti-piracy operations. Prior to the opening of the summit, Liang met with US Defense Secretary, Robert Gates, Singaporean Defense Minister, Teo Chee He-an, and Singaporean Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong.
