Kim Jong Il meets senior Chinese official in Pyongyang

Top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong Il has met in Pyongyang with Li Yuan-chao, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. Li has been visiting the country since last Friday.

During the meeting, Li spoke highly of the ties between the two Parties and countries, and their two political parties, saying that Kim's successful visit to China last month raised bilateral cooperation to a higher level.

Kim said that he had reached an important consensus with the leaders of the CPC and the Chinese government on consolidating and strengthening the traditional friendship that has existed between the two countries. He said under the current complex international situation,it is of great importance for the two parties and countries to boost solidarity and cooperation and communicate on socialist construction experiences.
