Lebanon PM forms new government

Lebanon's Prime Minister Najib Mikati has managed to form a new government after a delay of nearly five months vowing also to start working soon.

He said, "We managed, with the sincere cooperation of all concerned parties, and in the forefront the President of the Republic, to resolve all the obstacles to form the government. We look forward to gaining your confidence and the confidence of your representatives in parliament so that we can immediately start working."

Political wrangling had held up the formation of the cabinet, including disagreements over posts. Mohammed Safadi, the former economics minister was named minister of finance, Fayez Ghusn was named defense minister, Marwan Charbel as the interior, and Nicolas Sehnawi telecommunications. Mikati said the new Lebanese government will seek to maintain ties with all Arab countries.
