Chinese President Hu meets with Ukrainian President on ties

Visiting Chinese President, Hu Jintao, and his Ukrainian counterpart, Viktor Yanukovich, have held talks in Yalta aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation.

Hu Jintao says China-Ukrainian relations have seen healthy and smooth growth over their nearly 20 years of existence. He adds the two sides have carried out fruitful cooperation in the areas of politics, trade, economy, science, and international affairs. During the meeting, Hu Jintao said the two countries should work hard to carry on the friendship between the two peoples.

Viktor Yanukovich said Hu Jintao's visit will add fresh impetus to the development of bilateral relations and lift the links to a new height. Hu Jintao is the first Chinese head of state to visit Ukraine in nearly a decade.
