Arab League hosts meeting on Libya

Officials from regional and international organizations have discussed ways of lending support to Libyan hopes for a brighter future. Arab League Secretary General, Amr Moussa, and High Representative of the European Union, Catherine Ashton, took part in the meeting held in Cairo, along with the UN envoy to Libya and the African Union's chairperson.

The Arab League chief, reading a statement from the talks, announced the insistence of international and regional organizations on finding a solution to the conflict. The meeting also discussed ways of providing protection for the rights of civilians in Libya and helping with a political transition to democracy. The conference was the second held in Cairo since the Libyan conflict erupted almost five months ago.
