President Hu Jintao visits National Museum in Kiev

Chinese President Hu Jintao is in Ukraine, where he's visited the National Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War in the capital Kiev.

The memorial complex was constructed to commemorate the Second World War, in which over 8 million Ukrainians devoted their lives.

Hu Jintao viewed various statues and pictures showing the history of the Ukrainian people battling against Nazi aggressors.

The Chinese President paid tribute to the Ukrainian people for their courage. He said he was greatly impressed by the museum displays, adding that China and Ukraine should take joint efforts, to oppose war and safeguard peace.
